Te Puna Mātauranga is setting out to reimagine and design a product which will be part of the Services for Schools website to better meet the needs of kura kaupapa Māori. 

Introduction: Aim of the project and its significance for kaiako and ākonga in kura kaupapa Māori and Māori medium kura. 
Background: Importance of mātauranga Māori  – the concept of a whare tupuna housing mātauranga.
Methods: Codesign process with kura, including workshops, wānanga, and feedback and feedforward. Importance of having a kaupapa Māori approach.  Selection and curation of resources, considering their relevance to the principles of Te Aho Matua and the refresh of Te Marau o Aotearoa. This includes QA of te reo Māori delivery for kura kaupapa Māori and Māori medium.
Results: Interface and navigation that features mana motuhake of the kura with curated resources reflecting the values and aspirations of kura kaupapa Māori and the philosophies of Te Aho Matua. Positive and productive engagement from kura, ākonga, kaiako.

Challenges:

  • Technological considerations.
  • Data sovereignty and mana motuhake of mātauranga of the kura and ākonga.
  • Sustainable support and maintenance of the online platform.
