Jane Alexander is the Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO) at the Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA), where she serves as a key member of the museum's executive team. In her role, Jane is at the forefront of shaping the museum's digital strategy, fostering innovation, and implementing cutting-edge technology solutions to advance the CMA's mission. With a keen focus on innovation and digital transformation, Jane leads the development and execution of interactive experiences, backend applications, and infrastructure design to enhance the museum's offerings. Her visionary leadership led to the creation and multiple iterations of the award-winning ArtLens Gallery (Gallery One) and a groundbreaking mobile app, positioning the CMA as a global leader in leveraging technology to engage visitors.
In 2019, Jane launched the award-winning Open Access initiative, allowing the public to access and reuse high-resolution and 3D images in the public domain, setting new industry standards. During the challenging times of the pandemic, her leadership was instrumental in pioneering online AI tools like ArtLens for Slack and Share Your View, along with innovative online dashboards, transforming the CMA into a data-driven and technologically forward-thinking institution. In 2021, Jane spearheaded the first-ever immersive mixed-reality in-gallery exhibition, 'Revealing Krishna,' showcasing her commitment to pushing the boundaries of art and technology.
Before her role in Cleveland, Jane developed and directed the Columbia University's renowned distance education program. She also played a pivotal role in enhancing instructional technology and methodology resources at the university. Additionally, Jane has lent her technical expertise to high-profile projects, serving as the virtual Chief Technology Officer for the Great Lakes Science Center and as a technical design consultant for Frank Gehry's Peter B. Lewis Campus at Case Western Reserve University. A native New Yorker, Jane holds a BS and MS in Applied Mathematics, as well as a BA in Architecture from Columbia University.
