Dr Ofa Dewes, MNZM
Ofa Dewes is Director of the Tongan Health Society’s Langimalie Research Centre in South Auckland and member of the Society’s Board. She is also a member of the Maurice Wilkins Centre for Molecular Biodiscovery’s Research Leadership Forum and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Auckland’s Centre of Methods and Policy Application in the Social Sciences.
Ofa has worked extensively in the international, public, private and academic sectors. Strong connections with Pacific countries and peoples have influenced the direction of her research in ethnic-specific studies across the life-span especially in integrated and long-term care. She also serves on the science advisory panel to the Ageing Well National Science Challenge and the Ministry of Social Development’s expert group for projects on income support and material wellbeing for children and adults impacted by disability and/or health conditions.
