Coming to Aotearoa at the age of 16, Danielle Hao-Aickin 郝丹丹 (She/Her) is a bilingual, Chinese-Pākeha born creative producer, photographer, and musician passionate about her whakapapa to Xi’An 西安, China. She is currently the Project Lead at youth enterprise and charity Youth Arts New Zealand, and also one half of the indie-folk duo Ersha Island 二沙岛.

Danielle completed her Bachelor’s of Music majoring in Popular Music (Songwriting) at the University of Auckland in 2021, with achievements including being Dux of Solway College in Masterton, winning the Top Achievers Scholarship for University in 2018, and earning the President of the Year Award for her work in the School of Music Students’ Association in 2020. Danielle is also one of 4 co-founders of the community ‘Where The Asians?! At’, a movement started to address Asian diversity in the music industry, and has spoken at various panels including the Ministry of Ethnic Communities Cultural Kōrero.
