Mark Amery has been committed to the development of arts media and Aotearoa's arts and culture for over 30 years. He is the new co-producer and presenter of RNZ’s Culture101, and has recently worked as lead producer of Saturday Morning with Kim Hill on RNZ National and as a weekly culture writer and contributing arts editor at newspaper The Post. Mark began in radio at 95bFM in the 1990s as weekly producer and presenter of arts show The Culture Bunker for five years and went on to co-host Radio Active's arts show Caffeine and Aspirin.
Mark has been a long-time arts commentator and critic across the print media. A former Director of NZ playwrights organisation Playmarket, where he edited their NZ theatre magazine Playmarket Annual for many years, he has worked in publicity for the then NZ International Festival of the Arts and several public galleries.
Mark co-founded public arts organisation Letting Space in 2009 (the subject of an upcoming Massey University Press book), artist space brokers Urban Dream Brokerage and in 2023 co-created with Wellington public housing tenants a citizen's newspaper and lightbox project: The People’s Voice / Te Reo ō Ngā Tāngata.
