Speaker Bio
Pania Newton an empowering leader, lawyer, and kaitiaki, made history at Ihumātao with her whānau by challenging a housing development on ancestral land. As one of the spokespersons of the Ihumātao movement, she and her whānau sparked a global conversation on indigenous land rights and inspired communities worldwide. Pania's passion for social justice and preserving wahi tapu (significant Māori land) will be shared as our opening keynote speaker at Nui te Kōrero. Join us to gain insights on a brave new world and the importance of indigenous leadership.
