Dr Morgane Merien is a Science and Curatorial Communicator at Canterbury Museum. Morgane is also the presenter of the kids TV show Bug Hunter! which is all about bugs and is currently streaming on TVNZ+. Passionate about the natural world, Morgane's background is in entomology and science communication. Morgane believes that science is for everyone, and that it is part of the job of scientists to communicate research and make it accessible and understandable for everyone. In her position at Canterbury Museum, Morgane creates resources and delivers outreach events for education and public programs. Morgane also creates content based on the collections & exhibitions used for outreach, social media and archives. She works closely with the various teams of curators, educators, and exhibition professionals in the museum. This role is cross-disciplinary, and no day looks the same which is exciting and fun! Emerging technologies in the museum sector is an exciting area of work which is constantly changing and rapidly evolving. Amongst this, digital spaces are providing an alternative or parallel way for museums to interact with their visitors, and becoming more and more entrenched in the way stories are told in cultural institutions.
