Speaker Bio
Leonie Matoe (Ngā Rauru and Ngā Ruahine) is the Te Ao Maaori Lead in a programme of work with Hāpai Hapori (Community Operations, DIA) that is seeking to evolve the Lottery Grants System. Leonie has a background in Māori Public Health and Innovation and ‘grew up’ in Kaupapa M`aori health organisations to reach leadership roles including former CEO of the National Māori health agency Toi Tangata. Leonie says this public health grounding led to an MBA from Waikato University and an opportunity to apply learnings in her roles of Business Development Manager and Acting General Manager with Iwi Trust Te Kaahui o Rauru. Leonie has been with the Department for two years and thrives on creating solutions, on working with and learning from others.
