Dr Judy Lawrence is Adjunct Professor at the New Zealand Climate Change Research Institute, Victoria University of Wellington. Her research focuses on robust decision-making tools under uncertainty (DAPP and serious games) for adaptation; cascading and compound climate change impacts in coastal and inland flooding settings affecting settlements and infrastructure; managed retreat and its funding; institutional arrangements and planning measures for central and local government agencies.

She has developed policy and planning measures for monitoring and implementing adaptive plans in New Zealand and internationally.

Judy has a PhD in Public Policy on the adequacy of institutional frameworks and practice for climate change adaptation decision making and has a Master’s degree in geomorphology.

Judy was a Coordinating Lead Author for the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report and is a New Zealand Climate Change Commissioner.
