This interactive masterclass is an opportunity for funder trustees and leaders to explore what co-leadership, co- governance and the Waka Hourua (two-hulled waka) model might mean in the philanthropic context, and why it is often challenging to achieve. We will explore the historical context, consider what the waka hourua model means, and hear “warts and all” stories of organisations who are on this co-leadership and co-governance journey both generally and within philanthropy. We will then work in smaller groups to share aspirations and experiences and help craft practical and pathways for using these concepts to benefit us all.
We’re grateful for the support of The Tindall Foundation in providing this masterclass. This session is part of the Ki te Hoe programme, which is a partnership between Philanthropy New Zealand | Tōpūtanga Tuku Aroha o Aotearoa and Tūmanako Consultants.
